Barbara Jean's is a family run, multi-unit restaurant that began 50 miles north of Jacksonville, on St. Simons Island. It is known as a rare restaurant that can pull off doing both seafood and home-style cooking. They take great pride in their feasts and Barbara Jean's Barbara Jean Barta is the creative force behind the recipes and works everyday in one restaurant or another. They are best known for their crab cakes, she crab soup, slightly mysterior "Chocolate Stuff" dessert, and homemade breads.

"They advertise that their crab cakes are the best in the world and I must agree. They were fantastic! Most crab cakes are full of mealy filler. These were not. Just lots of fresh crab in a cake. Very, very good. The pumpkin spice bread was delicious and we asked for more. I had a small portion of crab cake and a cup (a big cup) of she crab soup. It was also delicious. Our server was delightful, warm & friendly."
